68 is the new 70

Later than anticipated I finally dinged 68 last night and took another trip to Sethekk Halls to celebrate. No mage pants drop, but I am now wearing my fancy new Lockmage pants, set bonuses be damned!

My guild downed 3 bosses in Karazhan Sunday night and they went back in last night for some more. They are heading to Gruul's Lair on Friday, so hopefully someone will be picking up their Tier 4 shoulders. I have to keep reminding myself that raiding for 6 months straight is what ruined the WoW for me last time I quit. But, damn it if storming Medivh's tower doesn't sound like a ton of fun.

My "lore nerd" and my "good husband" are gearing up for an epic throw down.

Wish me luck,

Jafer

Wii > WoW

My wife and I picked up a Wii at 1am Sunday and spent the whole day playing Wii sports. So I didn't meet my goal of 68, but I did run Sethekk Halls again and I am 95% to 68. So I should hit it tonight easy with rested exp...unless I play Zelda.

Maybe it is time to combine my old love with the new one...

Death From Above!

Like the mighty eagle stalking a young salmon, no one is ever prepared for the flying gank! The flying gank is a side effect of the flying mount that I did not anticipate from BC (I wasn't in beta). I'm not talking about hot flying mount on flying mount action, but about low level players (60-69) being preyed upon by 70's in the sky.

When leveling from 1 to 60 most PvP server players learned to be aware of our surroundings (X & Y axises). Checking your back before grabbing another mob was not that hard. With the introduction of the flying mount in BC though, the dreaded Z axis has come into play. Unless you play from the ankle cam there isn't really an opportunity to see your attacker before it's too late.

While I am all for ganking and have been both ganker and gankee on many occasions, the flying gank seems like it could get out of hand. The average player has not hit 70 yet and the number of players on flying mounts that most players see is low. As the general player base slowly hits 70 though the more flying ganks there will be. I won't even get into epic flying mounts, most people I see currently, are on the standard mount and getting away from them is like getting away from an acer seed. Epic flying mounts will own it and by "it" I mean your soul if you are not 70 yet.

I can't wait to hit 70 so I can start owning noobs from the sky,

Of Babies and Bath Water

Back in blues, I have officially replaced most of my "Tier Gear" with blue drops and quest items. It is kinda sad to see so many of the items I raid for months on end to get, be vendored or banked so soon. A quick run down of the replacements looks like this...

- Ethereal Boots of the Skystrider replaces Netherwind Boots
- Stormreaver Shadow-Kilt replaces Netherwind Pants
- Tempest's Touch replaces Arcanist Gloves
- Mantle of Magical Might replaces Arcanist Mantle
- Arcing Bracers replaces Arcanist Bindings
- Torc of the Sethekk Prophet replaces Choker of Enlightenment
- The Saga of Terokk replaces Ancient Cornerstone Grimoire

I also got Trousers of Oblivion last night, the stats are hot, but they Warlock dungeon 3 pants. Well who cares, until I get my Incanter's Trousers they are my mage pants!

I dinged 66 on Wednesday night and I'm 85% into 67 with a goal of 68 by Sunday.

Wish me luck,

Jafer

Out with the Old

I have been doing mostly questing since the start of BC, but I have gone to HFC (Hell Fire Citadel) a total of 5 times. In 3 trips to the Ramparts I have replaced my 2x Freezing Band(s) with 2x Witching Band(s). Not a bad deal!

Now that I am 63 though, it's on to the Underbog and a quest reward that will be yet another ring replacement. Blizzard, I have two hands with three trolley fingers each! How about you at least let me wear 4 rings so I don't have to keep trashing good rings every level.

Ding 63!

Questing > Instances

I dinged 63 last night and the drive to keep going to 64 kept me up till 2am.

That is all,

Laced with BC

Burning Crusade came out on January 16th and I was at the local Gamestop at midnight to pick it up. Now I'm not what most would consider a hardcore player, but I did preorder and I'm awake at 1 - 2am most nights regardless of video games. So I figured what the hell! What the hell indeed! I picked up my copy, updated my key, installed and playing by 1am. Jump forward to 5am when I was still playing!

I am normally not one to call in sick, but damn it if playing video games till 5am doesn't make me feel like I got beat with the blunt side of an Ashbringer. So I call in sick and sleep till noonish and then back to WoW. I thought I had kicked the habbit, broken the addiction and/or weened myself off the "stuff". Guess I was wrong!

I haven't been this hooked on WoW since the original release day when I skipped college classes to play all day (10am to 3am). Looks like I am back in the saddle again and at least in it to 70 and i'll see where it goes from there.

Lord save me,

Jafer
